Montana FWP .VS. Idaho FWP
Reduce Hunting Opportunities OR Control Predators

The difference between the way Montana and Idaho view the Big Game populations is like night and day. Until recently, both states managed for abundance and controlled population sizes with hunting. With the recent introduction of Canadian wolves, that management plan is no longer valid as population sizes are now controlled by predation.

In attempting to stop the rapid decline of ungulate herds in both states, Idaho FWP has shifted their focus to predator control, while Montana FWP is reducing hunter opportunities. Below is a comparison of the two states predator regulations.
